MY story

About the Writer

I’m Southern.  Let’s get that out of the way first thing, with all the preconceived notions that go along with the statement.  I have always loved the South.  Growing up on a small farm, even now, each Spring, the smell of earth still excites me.  I love the slow, languid Summers that melt the will to live for most newcomers.  And, being born in January, I love the three months of what we call a hard Winter.

On the other side of the coin, I love to travel and read books, sci-fi and fantasy, art, and liberal thinking.  How I turned into the person I am today is a long story.  Beware of putting a kid in front of an old TV and ignoring her.

I watched wonderful old Black & White films, like “Twelve Angry Men” starring Henry Fonda, or “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” starring Sidney Poitier, and “To Kill a Mockingbird,” with Gregory Peck, “War of Worlds,” “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” “The Incredible Shrinking Man,” etc.  (Not one Disney film in the bunch. However, I’ve seen every Disney film and animation.  I love anime.)  Left alone to absorb a new world of ideas.  These wonderful movies shaped my view of everything.

Don’t worry, yes I am an avid reader, even though our town didn’t have a library, luckily our school did.   Not to mention sneaking my older sister’s books and my brother’s John Prine album.

Our Dog Bunny

My Dog Bunny Hates Me

Bunny is a Miniture Poodle

We adopted her before she was born, and the breeder was wonderful. After the birth, she called upset; the mother lost all the puppies except for one—a beautiful solid black poodle. We had been waiting for a brown one, but we loved her instantly. We didn't realize at the time that she probably ate her littermates in utero.

My husband says she love us "in her own way"

I believe it's in the way a Princess loves all the enslaved people that do everything for them but who are easily replaceable.

You Think It's Because we Named her Bunny

NO! We named her Bunny because she is constantly hopping on her back feet, and it had a distinctively Southern sound to the name. And, because Lucifer was taken. She's here to teach me that it's okay to Love something without any expectation of anything in return. True Love, LOL

MY lovely husband

About My Best Friend in Life

James Derrick Pierce is my husband and best friend. I know, I know, it sounds corny. Sad but true!

He is a brilliant Fine Arts Photographer in his own right. We’ve traveled all over the world and had a studio together. He’s currently working hard to make sure I have this chance to become a writer. I think he’s hoping for another Harry Potter success so he can retire in England (don’t tell him the odds).

We’ve been together for over 30 years, and he still thinks I’m beautiful. Lol, What a generous imagination.

He truly is one of the most gifted artists I’ve ever known. (See his work below.)
